Privacy Policy
Your travel map stays on your device. This page explains what you share when you use Unseen World.
Your map and device
Your visited countries and bucket list are saved in your browser, along with your dark-mode preference. There is no sign-in or cross-device sync. Clearing this site's browser data removes your saved map and preferences.
Personalized posters
The name and photo you add to your map poster are processed in your browser to create your download. The poster tool does not upload them with a place submission.
Places you submit
Submitting a hidden gem sends the place details, photos, your name, country, and phone number or email to our hosted service for review. Your contact details are collected for verification and to link your contributions. Approved place details and photos, your contributor name, and your optional contributor photo can appear publicly, including on the leaderboard.
Location permission
We request your device location only when you choose to share your current location in the submission form. Your coordinates are used to fill the place location and a Google Maps link. If you submit these details and the place is approved, its location may be shown publicly. You can decline location permission.
Services and external links
The website's hosting provider stores and serves place submissions and photos. Website fonts load from Google Fonts, which receives the connection information needed to deliver them. Opening a Google Maps link takes you to Google's service and its privacy terms. The map also records an aggregate usage count, with a browser marker to avoid counting the same browser again.
Your choices
You can use the map without submitting personal information. Only submit photos and details you are comfortable sharing publicly, and avoid including private information in place descriptions or photos. You can clear local browser data or revoke location permission through your browser settings. Removing local data does not remove information you have already submitted.
